Episode 33: Googling Your Glossolalia?

Posted by Steve Bremner on 18th August 2008

Are tongues always a heavenly language, or are they only known languages–or both?  Is it Biblical or even a good idea to Google search the tongues you speak to see if they are actual words in other languages?  Join us today as our favorite fiery Russian apologist Dima Kurovsky shares his findings after deciding to give it a shot and see if the tongues he prays are actual words in any other languages. The results will make you laugh sometimes, but mostly encourage and surprise you–in a good way.

Hopefully the next show will be with Dan again, and will cover updates on the time in Holland these past weeks.

Episode 32: Objections To Christianity

Posted by Steve Bremner on 22nd July 2008

This week Dan Slavin and Steve Bremner discuss some questions and concepts many skeptics have a hard time with concerning the existence of God and perceptions of His character if He does exist.  How could a perfect judge sentence an imperfect creation to infinite punishment for finite sins?  Does an all-knowing God create future suffering?  Why do bad things happen to good people?  Is God really an advocate of slavery in the Bible? Also, we give a few updates regarding the Fire For Life Summer School and 08.08.08 in a few weeks.

Episode 31: Will There Really Be an End-time Revival?

Posted by Steve Bremner on 7th July 2008

Join us this week as Dan Slavin and Steve Bremner continue to talk about the controversies surrounding the Florida Healing Outpouring (a.k.a. Lakeland Revival) specifically regarding end time deception. Does the Bible really teach there’ll be a massive end time revival before Christ returns?  Or will everything get worse and worse?  Is good news bad news for doomers and gloomers?  We also carefully go through the parable of the wheat and the tares and discuss what is true and false fruit of revival.

Episode 30: Can Satan cast out Satan: The Florida Healing Outpouring

Posted by Steve Bremner on 23rd June 2008

How could we jump on the blogging and podcasting bandwagon and NOT include an episode devoted to the hotly debated and controversial Lakeland Revival aka The Florida Healing Outpouring? Join Dan Slavin & Steve Bremner this week as we share testimonies, discuss some of the concerns and criticisms, and Steve shares first-hand experience from attending for himself. Are Todd Bentley’s tattoos really demon-inspired? Do signs and wonders really happen today? Is it possible or normal for Christians to have angelic encounters? Join us as we begin a discussion on these hot topics of the hour.

Episode 28: Divine Healing

Posted by Steve Bremner on 27th May 2008

This week, the sacred cow killing continues as we tackle some theological questions we’ve been asked about divine healing, including: If God wants to heal, then how come He cursed people with sickness and disease in the Old Testament? Were some of the healing commands God gave the disciples only for them to do in their generation? Does Matthew 7:21-23 teach that healing ministers are apostate? Does healing the sick really interfere with God’s sovereignty? How does sowing and reaping play a part in sovereignty and divine healing?

Episode 27: Is It Always God’s Will To Heal?

Posted by Steve Bremner on 6th May 2008

God is restoring power evangelism to the Body of Christ in this hour, so join us as we provide Scriptures to help anchor you in the subject of divine healing, and leave you no excuse for not stepping out and laying your hands on the sick.

Does God really keep people sick in order to teach them a lesson? Does God really withhold healing from anyone who seeks Him for it? What about those godly people who’ve sought God for healing but never got it, and even died in some cases? Does Scripture really teach that God gives us something different than what we ask Him for? Join us for a sacred cow slaughterhouse as we go through LOTS of Scripture on this one area.

Episode 25: There’s Life In The Blood

Posted by Steve Bremner on 10th April 2008

Is divine healing some special extra thing only certain believers with a lot of faith are able to get, or is it available to all believers? Do you have to get the sin out of your life first before God can heal you or use you to heal others? What is the atonement? Join us as we barbecue some sacred cows about healing, and do our best to convince you that God doesn’t play favorites with his children on this matter. Summer school update: we have one confirmed speaker. Listen to find out who it is, click here if you’d like to register. Also expect a bit of a hiatus until June in terms of how often new Fire On Your Head episodes get posted, as Steve will be in Peru for 6 weeks.

Episode 24: Does Genesis Really Matter To The Faith?

Posted by Steve Bremner on 31st March 2008

Back by popular demand, Dima and Auke return for a discussion on why understanding the creation vs. evolution debate should matter to the believer. Does it matter if the days of creation are literal, or allegorical? Does it make a difference to the rest of our doctrines if we don’t view Genesis as history? Join us for what will also serve as the first episode of Dima & Auke’s podcast, “Battle For Reality“. Find out how Genesis is actually key to winning our nations for Christ and removing roadblocks from many peoples’ hearts in our generation and culture.

Episode 23: Waiting on God

Posted by Steve Bremner on 25th March 2008

We continue our spiritual disciplines series with one more entry. This week Dan and Steve discuss the process of waiting on God. Sometimes we feel Him everywhere in our life, other times the heavens seem made of brass and like He couldn’t be further away. Join us as we plow through some Scriptures and talk about how this relates to our spiritual lives on a practical basis. We also cover some brief updates. Hope you all had a great Easter Weekend.

Episode 22: The Lost The Art of Meditation & Confession

Posted by Steve Bremner on 17th March 2008

Dan & Steve continue their discussion on spiritual disciplines, such as Scripture memorization. What is Biblical confession? What is Biblical meditation? Join us this week and find out why what you always thought these things were is probably different than what the Bible actually teaches—and NOT some weird new age practices. I apologize for the poor sound quality—I used my computer’s internal mic, which picked the fan noise from inside the machine—very difficult to remove properly in editing.

Episode 21: Is Spiritual Discipline Legalistic?

Posted by Steve Bremner on 10th March 2008

Join us this week and next as we cover a few spiritual disciplines related to praying in tongues and meditating on the Word of God, systematic Bible study, and Scripture memorization as it helps you build up your inner man. Who knows, maybe you will discover some sacred cows in your life to kill that hold you back from a richer fuller life of obedience to Christ. First of two parts.

Episode 20: Being Led By The Spirit

Posted by Steve Bremner on 3rd March 2008

“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God” (Romans 8:14). It’s a common catch-phrase used in many charismatic circles, but is the way “being led by the Spirit” commonly taught really biblical? What is the difference between being led by the Holy Spirit, and having the mind of Christ (1 Cor 2:16), or being a doer of the Word (James 1:22)?

Join us for an especially important sacred cow that needs to die or at the very least be re-examined for merit.
