The Voice of The Lord

Posted by Steve Bremner on 21st May 2009

TissVoic.jpgThis is a message by Bryan Purtle, one of our mainstays at the Fire On Your Head blog. He shared this message with the Tent of David Fellowship in Kansas City, Missouri which he and other FIRE School of ministry grads helped establish.  TODF is a community of believers in the inner city, “a society of believers devoted to the extension of the knowledge of Christ through the ministries of prayer and fasting, revival, theology, life together, and missions.”

Episode 42: Can a Christian Have a Demon?

Posted by Steve Bremner on 26th April 2009

christian_demon.jpgChristians and deliverance ministry: we wound up getting into it during my discussion with Ron Smith, director of Fire Peru while I interviewed him about the work down here in discussing our involvement with Derek Prince Ministries.  We also talk about the need for living holy, sowing seeds of righteousness to the Spirit versus living in sin and growing seeds of the flesh, generational curses, and the consequences of not having sin dealt with in our lives as Christians.  Click here to donate to the Smiths or learn more about the ministry of Fire Peru.

Episode 41: Do Politics & Christianity Mix?

Posted by Steve Bremner on 19th April 2009

church_state1.jpgThis week, Steve finally brings you brief updates about life and ministry in Peru and what to expect on the podcast in the near future.

The discussion this week: politics.  What role is Christianity to play in our culture in terms of government?  Does the Bible actually say anything about voting or not voting?  What about Christians who vote favorably for candidates who hold to unbiblical values and campaign platforms?  What is ‘separation of church and state’?  Are believers to enter politics as a way of legislating morality, and the Gospel?  How exactly are we called to make change in this world?  Is the Church supposed to be changing society, or is the government?

This week’s intro: “Politicians” by Switchfoot

Today we just hash out some thoughts with Shawn Landis on the subject, which is one he burns with.  Visit his blog at http://shawnman.blogspot.com/

The Hidden Manna

Posted by Steve Bremner on 15th April 2009

i89fcxcdh8_20_03_2003F8AE6.jpgIn this message David Edwards shares on living off of the Words of God. The secret of fasting is denying yourself of something you need to survive in this realm, in order to eat of that which you need to survive in the spiritual realm. Eating of that realm gives you the substance of that realm, and then you’re be able to serve out what you’ve seen in that realm into this one.

Ministry To The Lord

Posted by Steve Bremner on 1st April 2009

Worship_Praise.jpgIn this message David Edwards shares about ministering to the Lord. This is the most important ministry that we have, and it takes precedence over all the other ministry that we do. It is from this that all other ministries are birthed.

God’s Strength Made Perfect In Our Weakness

Posted by Steve Bremner on 3rd June 2008

This is a message Dr. Michael Brown preached at last year’s Fire For Life Summer School. We are so used to putting our confidence in political power and democracy instead of God and prayer, but we’re never going to change the nation by the arm of the flesh. If God had to tell Joshua and Paul to fear not, then maybe He needs to tell us also.

Episode 23: Waiting on God

Posted by Steve Bremner on 25th March 2008

We continue our spiritual disciplines series with one more entry. This week Dan and Steve discuss the process of waiting on God. Sometimes we feel Him everywhere in our life, other times the heavens seem made of brass and like He couldn’t be further away. Join us as we plow through some Scriptures and talk about how this relates to our spiritual lives on a practical basis. We also cover some brief updates. Hope you all had a great Easter Weekend.

Episode 22: The Lost Art of Meditation & Confession

Posted by Steve Bremner on 17th March 2008

Dan & Steve continue their discussion on spiritual disciplines, such as Scripture memorization. What is Biblical confession? What is Biblical meditation? Join us this week and find out why what you always thought these things were is probably different than what the Bible actually teaches—and NOT some weird new age practices. I apologize for the poor sound quality—I used my computer’s internal mic, which picked the fan noise from inside the machine—very difficult to remove properly in editing.

Episode 20: Being Led By The Spirit

Posted by Steve Bremner on 3rd March 2008

“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God” (Romans 8:14). It’s a common catch-phrase used in many charismatic circles, but is the way “being led by the Spirit” commonly taught really biblical? What is the difference between being led by the Holy Spirit, and having the mind of Christ (1 Cor 2:16), or being a doer of the Word (James 1:22)?

Join us for an especially important sacred cow that needs to die or at the very least be re-examined for merit.

Called By God To Do Great Exploits

Posted by Steve Bremner on 1st March 2008

Be sure to check out this intercession-related teaching by Tommi Femrite, recorded at the Fire For Life Summer School 2007, in the Netherlands.  We hear repeatedly, that this generation is a “Joshua” generation or “Daniel” generation and so forth, but what does that mean and why are those names important?  If you’re sitting at a desk, be sure to grab your Bible and plow through this study, and find out also just what is a Caleb spirit/mentality.

Episode 19: Has A Rapture Mentality Short-Changed Our Generation?

Posted by Steve Bremner on 25th February 2008

Don’t let the title fool you–this is not specifically an end-times theology podcast. Has the escapist mentality of the generations of Christians before us “waiting for the Rapture to happen” caused distrust of this current generation towards leadership in the here and now? If we believe things are only going to get worse, do we have any hope to see a move of God take place in our generation if we think we’re going to escape “any minute now”? Join Dan & Steve this week as we discuss how negative expectations of the end-times have really hindered the Church from truly stepping out and believing for God to do big and mighty things–TODAY.

We also give you updates on the latest with the national day of prayer in The Hague, and tackle a few other sacred cows on the popular Calvinistic view of God’s sovereignty. Check it out and be challenged!

Will You Lay Down Your Life To See God Move?

Posted by Steve Bremner on 22nd February 2008

This is a message that Jerome Ocampo spoke in Rotterdam at the Firehouse. This was a day after a meeting where Dutch leaders came together to hear Frank Pot & Jerome Ocampo present the vision for a national day of prayer in the Netherlands.

This message is an encouragement about what God is doing around the world and a challenge to embrace what God wants to do in our country. God is moving among the youth worldwide and the Netherlands in no exception. Will you lay down your life to see God move?
