About Steve

IMG_0236.jpgSteve Bremner is a F.I.R.E. School of Ministry graduate with a burden for grounding people in the Word of God and seeing believers from all sorts of backgrounds live out and experience the power of the Holy Spirit in their lives and ministries.

Having served in the Netherlands for nearly 2 years, and now living in Peru, Steve has developed a heart for seeing the Church return to New Testament Christianity, and reach their culture with the pure Gospel of the kingdom and power of God.

Fire On Your Head Podcast Origin

It started as the title for a podcast Steve and Dan Slavin--both missionaries to the Netherlands at the time--got as an outgrowth of their nightly accountability Skype conversations.  Being in different cities, they spoke regularly over Skype and prayed for each other.  Eventually they decided to start their own podcast after realizing how easy it would be to do so, and as a way of promoting the upcoming 2007 Fire For Life Summer School in that country.  The intent was to have mp3s of previous summer school classes made available online in order to refer to people who may have been thinking of coming.  But also, the two also decided to record a talk-show style recording and talk about various pentecostal and charismatic subjects from a Biblical perspective, believing a discussion was a more dynamic form of mp3 to listen to than a sermon-like teaching.   It worked, as the Fire On Your Head talk show mp3s get noticeably more downloads than any of the messages by relatively high profile speakers who are also on our podcast's feed.

Dan and Steve eventually picked the name ‘Fire On Your Head” after recording a few episodes because frankly, Dan would say that all the time.  It was catchy, easy to remember, and had the word ‘fire’ in it.  On the day of Pentecost, when the Holy Spirit fell, there were flames as of fire on each of the believers' heads in the upper room.  We firmly believe there’s no point in asking the Holy Spirit to come down if you have no head, (or don't have anything in it!).  We are grieved about the amount of flakiness we see in the movement we identify ourselves with, and seek to ground people in Biblical principles, but yet provide a source of teachings and apologetics for various topics distinct to the Pentecostal and Charismatic segment of Christianity.  The goal of "Fire on Your Head", the podcast and the Fire Press blog, is that you burn with fire on your head not just in your hearts.

Currently Steve co-hosts and produces the podcast, occasionally with authors, international speakers, other missionaries, Fire Press blog authors, and other like-minded kingdom builders, as Dan has transitioned into full time work and school back home, and the Lord has led Steve to missions in Peru, changing the direction and nature of the show since the change in both of their lives.

On a final note, Steve is Canadian (and is not ashamed of it), and considers himself a part of River Run Fellowship, located in Peterborough, Ontario. If it weren't for his home fellowship, and pastor Stephen Best, Stevie B would never have gone to Peru where he is beginning to see God do things he only imagined and day dreamed about...

One of the ways Steve supports himself is through online "tent making", building websites and through ghost writing and copy editing.  If you'd like to hire him to do something along those lines, please email him with your suggestion for a quote.  Otherwise, he does not receive a salary for any work he does in Peru, and his 'income' is dependent on the goodwill of friends and churches, and some online tentmaking.

If you’d like to support him directly with a cash donation as a missionary, then make checks payable to CALVARY INTERNATIONAL CANADA 149 Westmount Dr. N, P.O. Box 20081, Orillia, Ontario L3V 6C7. Please write "805C" in the memo line. Do NOT write Steve or Missionary anywhere on the check as it will not be received.

Click on the button below if you'd like to donate directly to him through Paypal (and not be issued any kind of tax receipt).
