The ceilings of one generation become the floor the next generation stands on. Do you know the purpose of your generation? According to several surveys and studies, the current generation in America under the age of 30 outnumbers the Baby Boomer generation, and these are the ones who are going to be tomorrow's leaders, innovators, politicians, and.....church leaders. But yet only 1 in 20 consider themselves spiritual or Christian. Dave Edwards and Steve Bremner discuss a bit of what living in a post Christian culture is starting to look like.
We also, primarily talk today about this current generation, as well as continue where we left off last week and talk about the messes of the gift of prophecy, and have safe environments to grow in the prophetic.
How do we deal with conflicting prophetic words from well-known credible men of God and church leaders, not the least of which includes dealing with when prophetic words never come to pass and they remove their prophecies from YouTube or their webpages?
How can we know when it's OK to reject a Word someone gives us, AS they're giving it to us, even if their track record is excellent?
Do we really understand what it means to have the mind of Christ? The photo credit is from the movie Johny Nmeumonic, and it was about a man who carried important 'downloads' in his mind. But in order to carry it all, he had to erase part of his memory.
In the Christian's case, we have the mind of Christ and don't need to erase anything. But does that mean the instant we're born again we suddenly know every thing? Of course not. We have access to all things through Christ (see Romans 5:2, and 1 Corinthians 2:9-16).
Join Steve Bremner and Dave Edwards this week in our first of two discussions regarding activating the prophetic in our lives and accessing the mind of Christ and learning to hear his voice more clearly in day to day circumstances.
This week's intro: Surface of the Sun, by All Star United.
This week we're privileged to have on the podcast Stephen Best, pastor of River Run Fellowship in Peterborough, Ontario, for a discussion regarding finding and fulfilling your purpose in God. It was very refreshing, and we discuss some sacred cows, such as;
Are there such things as 'divine appointments'?
Does God have a pre-arranged soulmate for each one of us?
Can we know whether we're in God's permissive will or His perfect will? Or do such distinctions even exist in the God journey?
This was definitely a fascinating discussion for me as we touched on some sacred cows.
This week's intro: It's Beautiful (Once You're Out Here) by Stavesacre
Join us again this week as Jeremy Connor, Dave Edwards and Steve Bremner discuss the kingdom of God--or at least try to, as this is probably going to come up again in the near future but we start off with a good discussion.
Questions that came up and may or may not have gotten answered:
What is the kingdom of God? Is it linear through out all of history, or is its full manifestation future tense only? Do you bring heaven to earth with your words, and actions? Do you live a supernatural lifestyle? What was an apostle in the Bible? Do we represent them accurately when we name people 'apostles' today?
This was the conclusion or the follow up to last week's discussion. This week's intro: Fire It Up by Thousand Foot Krutch
Presence removes the need for argument. Revival is a bi-product of His presence.
Join us this week as we go in a completely different direction from last week's discussion and cover the presence of God. This week we talk with Jeremy Connor, a friend of Dave Edwards’ and teacher at Bethel Life in their home church. We had a lot of fun yet covered some deep stuff as well, and ask challenging questions like: Do you value a book or do you value HIM? Is being ‘desperate’ for God or “spiritually hungry” actually a good thing or a sign of maturity? Is it really that easy to quench or grieve the Holy Spirit?
Does hell really exist? Of course it does, and that's not what we talk about today on the podcast, but rather who goes there and how to know if you're one of them and what to do about it
We post this rather urgent discussion about eternity and eternal matters, because in a current season when many people are talking about hell, it seems most are just watering it down or re-writing Scripture. So, that's why today on the podcast, Joel Crumpton shares his thoughts with Steve Bremner concerning this important and sobering subject, as well as his expertise in soul winning on the streets for over 27 years. Joel shares powerful testimonies of God using him, and encourages you to share your faith with others.
Do you know for certain where you'll go? If you are sitting on the fence, give this a listen and examine yourself.
This week's intro: "Save Me From Myself" by Brian "Head" Welch
Join us this week as we finally have back on the show author and international speaker S.J. Hill. He joins Dave Edwards and Steve Bremner as we talk about judgment again (it's been a couple of years so if you haven't heard those ones, check them out in our archive with SJ here).
We tried to discuss and answer some of the following questions: Does God really send disasters and calamities to cities and nations in order to teach its people lessons? If so, does it work? Does a ‘rapture mentality’ produce a people interested in what happens in the earth during their generation? Does the Church have way too pessimistic of an outlook when it comes to God’s involvement in the earth today? Does the Church embrace too much fatalism when it comes to dealing with every day events and natural disasters as they happen around the world?
How Is The Church specifically, and the culture in general, supposed to deal with ‘doom and gloom prophets whose ‘prophecies’ don’t come to pass? No, we’re not talking about fringe groups but ones who are more mainstream and accepted in both evangelical and charismatic circles.
This week we've got on Fire On Your Head two previous guests, together on the same show. Too much podcast for one podcast, if you ask me. Join us as FIRE School teacher, Brian Parkman, and evangelist Joel Crumpton and Steve Bremner discuss some issues related to faith, healing, and receiving from God, and how we have the sure written word of faith and don't need special "rhema words" from God about every decision we make.
Joel and Brian both share things they claim took them over twenty years to learn that they wish they knew earlier. What are those things? Listen to find out
Join us again as Steve Bremner talks with missionary Mark Burgess about the necessity of discipleship, but also the practicalities. An important point that seemed to be emphasized is that you influence and teach people in your area of influence, and should not exclude yourself because you’re not a "clergy member". We are ALL called to make disciples!
Is the church service the most important thing a pastor should be focused on? What about his or her sermon? Did Jesus teach his disciples they must have a splashy web page on the internet? How does accountability fit into the role of being discipled and making disciples? Is it possible to be discipled by the pastor of a large mega church through media such as internet and books? Listen and be challenged as we discuss these and other points that came up in the discussion.
In this message David Edwards discusses how we can view ourselves supernaturally. There is a supernatural side to all of us because we are created in His image and have access to heaven. There is a Superman or superhero inside us that longs to get out, and we enter into this by realizing what is the surpassing greatness of His power towards us who believe. We are the supernatural ones that all of creation is longing for to be revealed.
Find out how to become a superman or superwomen--those who possess the power of heaven here on the earth.
Join us this week as Brian Parkman, Dave Edwards and Steve Bremner discuss who we are in Christ, and just what kinds of things were accomplished at the cross that are now ours to walk out. You might want to listen to this one over a few times, as we cover lots of good points and Scriptures, and seek to help each other understand we don't need to twist God's arm in prayer to do certain things. You will find this to be a very refreshing conversation. Enjoy!
This week's intro: Surface of the Sun by All Star United
This week we change gears again and interview Mark Burgess. Mark and his wife Anna and kids have been living in Peru for a few years now, and currently are responsible for upwards of 70 people actively being discipled in their cell churches in Chorillios, located on the Pacific coast of Peru. We talk about what it is to be making disciples and building missional communities, and why the Great Commission is not just a call to make converts, but disciples.
Are you multiplying yourself into other people? What about those who you call ‘disciples’? Are you actually discipling others or keeping them at a distance, teaching them with words or studies, but unwilling to allow them access to you?
